To: 2008 Virginia Republican Convention Resolution Committee Members

What happened yesterday is a blunder on the part of Virginia Pro-Gun GOP. The passage of the Gingrich language is not a substitute for political resolve. However, you do have a chance to correct the situation: Vote on the National Parks Gun Ban Repeal Resolution! I have attached it again for your convenience.

Because a resolution supporting the right to keep and bear arms was adopted at the 2004 state convention, I am withdrawing our request for passage of the RKBA amendment this year.

HOWEVER, Republicans in Virginia, and I would argue everywhere else, need to return to their roots of small government and liberty. Passage of the Park Gun Ban Repeal resolution will do just that.

With a few exceptions, Democrats have figured out that support of gun control is a losing issue. It neither motivates their base, and when they try to go too far as Democrats often do, they energize our base against them.

THEY HAVE FIGURED OUT TO WIN THEY MUST COMPETE FOR VIRGINIA’S PRO-GUN VOTE.

Are you going to let them succeed?
